Say “hola” to the newest member of the Olaplex family

What did we do before Olaplex? We experienced a lot more hair damage and breakage, that’s what. I’ve been toting my own professional-grade Olaplex No. 1 and No. 2 to each and every color appointment for several years now, as I have my own back-bar bottles so there’s no need to pay the extra money to use the salon’s stash. I also use the No. 2 between colors as a deep treatment, and as an FYI, this pro-based step is just a tad more concentrated than the No. 3 Hair Perfector that anyone can buy at stores.

A few weeks ago, Olaplex introduced the No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment Kit (I was wondering how they would work in another product when the range already goes up to No. 7)—which is basically the at-home version of No. 1, which my colorist mixes into my color before she paints it on. No. 0 is designed to strengthen and repair hair damage caused by chemical processing, heat, tugging and environmental exposure. Since it’s a liquid, it comes in a needle-nose bottle to ensure you saturate every hair from root to tip (and lets you play colorist for a few minutes).

For a DIY treatment that gets as close to the salon version, Follow No. 0 with a generous amount of No. 3 (you get a sample in the No. 0 kit, but it’s available to purchase on its own) and rinse after 10 minutes. You’ll just love how soft and smooth your hair feels afterwards—and how healthy it stays between color appointments!
