Is it foundation, or is it skincare?

It officially feels like summer down here in South Florida, which means it’s time to up the sun protection ante. As a girl who loves her sunroof, I have a sneaking suspicion that my daily SPF under my makeup isn’t cutting it, so I figured I’d try to add an extra layer of protection. And s a girl who doesn’t like the thick, greasy feeling associated with some sunscreens, I thought my makeup might be a good place to insert this anti-aging boost, and that’s why I bought AmorePacific’s Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50+.

Part makeup and part skincare, this innovative “base” works like foundation while treating your skin with protective and soothing green tea (which happens to be one of the most powerful antioxidants out there). The formula also hydrates skin on contact and provides the highest level of sun protection you can get—and you don’t even know it’s there.

Upon opening the compact, you’re greeted with a special puff that’s designed to not absorb the product. Instead, the fluid foundation sits on the puff so you can press it on and build your color coverage layer by layer. The result is an extremely natural look and an unbelievably weightless feel. Since I’m accustomed to a more radiant finish, I put some Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow over the foundation and this did the trick.

The compact is available in four shades, and I was surprised at how perfectly the Almond Blush matched my skin. And you also get an extra full-size refill, which makes the $60 price point a heck of a lot better. Perfect for those al fresco days when I need a high level of sun protection and a polished look, this is going to be my go-to foundation for summer. What’s yours?

Happy Earth Day!
